Dear Friends,
Twenty-five years ago, my son Joshua was born prematurely. He was immediately taken to the Infant Special Care Unit at Northshore University HealthSystem formally none as Evanston Hospital, where he spent the next seven months of his life. Despite the heroic efforts of the dedicated and skilled neonatal doctors and nurses, Joshua could not overcome his serious health issues and passed away.
There is nothing that can prepare a parent for the devastating pain and grief felt over losing a child. However, my family and I were helped through this difficult time by the compassionate and committed staff of the Perinatal Family Support Center at Northshore University HealthSystem (Northshore). Their tremendous guidance and comfort was truly a gift to my family. The Center offers support services – free of charge – to women and their families experiencing issues related to pregnancy, birth, early infancy or perinatal loss.
In appreciation of the outstanding care we received, we established the Joshua Stuart Krinsky Memorial Fund in 1984 to help provide philanthropic funding for Northshore's Perinatal Family Support Center. Since 2000, my staff and I have hosted an annual charity golf outing to raise monies for the Fund. Thanks to the generosity and participation of many, this event has raised over $67,000 to date!
Please join us for the 2009 Joshua Stuart Krinsky Memorial Golf Outing on Thursday, September 10th at the Hill Crest Country Club in Long Grove to help celebrate the memory of Joshua and support this worthy cause. The cost is $275.00 per golfer and includes lunch and 18 holes of golf followed by a cocktail reception, entertainment, silent auction and dinner.
